Its all about you

Internet Marketers in my eyes can be a lot like politicians.  It should be all about you ‘the electorate’ - the reader of our blogs, newsletters, freebies and paid products.  You put us here in the first place, I helped to put others where they are in my thirst for knowledge along the way.  All too often you can be left with a bitter taste in your mouth - like politicians expenses!  Its easy to become complacent, to milk your list for all it’s worth and do it over again.  I suggest you don’t do this.  Treat your list with respect, just like you would like to be treated as a subscriber.  After all, it’s all about you.

Fire-up the Engines!

Yes, the title says it all.  It’s easy to stagnate and to procrastinate.  I am as guilty as the next person.  For a long time I have been putting off being more active in the Internet Marketing niche concentrating more on my other niche sites.

The time has come for me to fire up the engine and to lead by example.  Start to show you how to make money for real online through internet marketing.  I intend to lead you through the process and show that I practice what I preach unlike many other marketers out there!!

hold on tight, and keep your eyes peeled.  Some free stuff will be slowly but surely coming your way.

i invite you to join me in giving your internet business the kickstart it deserves!

All the best

Ian

Action gets rid of fear

It’s been a little while since I have posted but it came to me today how we can build things up in our mind to great proportions, worrying and fearing failure or pondering how something is done. I am as bad for this as anyone, the result is that we convince ourselves of reasons why it can’t or won’t work or why we can’t do whatever it is in question.

This is a great problem with potential internet entrepreneurs. Usually it’s the technical side of things that can be a stumblnig block for those in the early stages of internet marketing. However, the tools available today have made it easier than ever to get an online presence. Once you have done the whole sequence of getting your first site online you know you can do it - then the fear disappears and you can start to get creative again.

If you action your way through things, you feel better for doing something to start with. If you hit an obstacle, ok it is irritating but with persaverence you can find help on almost any subject online and you will overcome what it is you are struggling with.

Next time you find yourself WASTING time worrying or pondering things which you want to do but the demons in your head are convincing you otherwise, shut it out and get moving. Take action and you will be far more productive and happy. :)

Debt, Recession, Broken Resolutions?! There’s still hope…

Belated Happy New Year! Ok, so I haven’t posted in a little while, time has seemingly run away with all the festivities etc. So we are well and truely back into it - 2009 is here and so are we. Wherever we are whatever we are doing whoever we are. Has much changed? Probably not, the economy is a little worse our jobs a little less certain and those heartfelt intentions for new year resolutions fraying at the seams??!!!

Enough already! I’m not trying to bring you down, far from it. I do have this point to make though. We do face ‘uncertain times.’ If starting your own business was a new years resolution dont let it go the same way as all the others. The main reason resolutions fail is the all or nothing approach. The crash diets, the abstinence from alcohol, over zealous targets. Don’t take the same approach with your online business. I took a good few years toying with the idea, learning little by little, being sceptical and making excuses. Ok, I don’t recommend taking this long but the main thing is I didn’t give up. Despite the only few people I told casting doubt over my plans I listened to something inside.

So STOP. Don’t take the all or nothing approach. If you are not earning $15,000 a month in 30 days from now, don’t be disillusioned, don’t throw in your hand and curse at your luck…keep at it. Break it down into small manageable targets…and recognise how far you have come to date. If you have come this far you are already in the select few who want to take control of their destiny and not rely on others to decide it for them.

Recession…’The R Word’

So there’s no denying that the economy is in unstable times not helped in the least by the media frenzy which seems to feed on bad news like a leech. Have you also noticed how every politician comes out of the woodwork claiming that action should have been taken a long long time ago and that it was all bound to happen…however true that may be, is it me or are other people wondering why the hell they didn’t talk about this prophecy a long long time ago?!?! Politicians like so many people sit on the fence stand and wait until they can tell which way the wind will blow and then let the gale carry them along.

It’s so important to have the courage of your convictions.

Another thing that struck me recently is the idea of job security compared to a ‘risky’ business. It’s true, working for a company no matter what size or level of specialism, when the market dictates they will have no qualms in letting you go. We’ve seen this with major blue-chip multinational companies.

Maybe now is the time for you to start considering your future and where you want it to go. It is well known in investment to spread your risk by diversifying into many areas - multiple streams of income but for the majority we are reliant upon one stream - our job. If it goes, puff - that’s it…panic! When you have your own business YOU are in control of your own destiny, a fantastic feeling. I urge you to look closer at starting your own business online - the ultimate low risk, low cost start-up. It could be the start of something great…

‘Systems and Formulas’

I’m not one to complain but…I am tired of reading sales pitches and adverts on how some guy with next to nothing who’s in the ground has banked millions of pounds in a short space of time following a ’system’ he will share with you. A system or formula makes it sound so mysterious like you would have no clue about what to do unless you knew the system or formula. More often than not these sort of schemes either don’t tell you a system at all they simply give you a taste of some ideas and say ‘get on with it’ or the system is a MLM style program where you recruit people who recruit people who do the same….

Business online follows the same cornerstones that has defined business offline. How do you earn money online? By establishing yourself as a truthful, knowledgable person within your chosen field and establishing a solid customer base. You provide customers with solutions to their problems, advice to satisfy their thirst for knowledge. The way in which you do this is exciting online, there are many different avenues from article writing, blogging, informational websites, email marketing, sales pages etc. Call it a ’system’ if you will but I prefer to think of it as getting back to basics only with a bit of a twist, it’s online so you make make contact with the world rather than just your local town or city.

Ignore the smoke and mirrors. Maybe I’ve laboured the point on here but it’s so important. I will stop moaning now, I promise! :)

$95k in 30 days…make money online

Sound familiar?!?! Ok, maybe a tad exagerated but thinking about it, probably not.  Garbage like this lures people in who are usually suffering with desperation to make an extra income.  These are the very people who can’t afford to part with however much they are being asked to.  Legal? I’ve never looked into it, I guess so if they put an earnings disclaimer in.  Ethical?  Certainly not.

“Patience is a virtue….”  “slowly slowly catchy monkey!” These may sound equally as familiar but carry a hell of a lot more weight.  Although we don’t like it at times, results take time and effort but achievements are always worth it.  Do yourself a favour when you are next tempted to spend money on rediculous claims for easy money…stop and put on your sensible hat.  Instead use your time, energy and money to start your own online business, step by step.  Don’t be disheartened.  Success is there to be had but all it asks is you play fair and give a little effort in return.  Then things WILL get easier as the snowball effect kicks in, the first step is the hardest.

Autopilot

The fantasic part of operating a business online (as a pose to offline) is the degree to which you can automate things.

Whether it be an autoresponder delivering a 7 part course, a website available to sell on your behalf 24/7 or article submission software - computers are great at automating menial tasks.

In the offline world, some would say ‘real life!’, computers obviously play a part but how many of us feel as though we are doing tasks or indeed jobs which would be better suited to a machine than a human being?!?!

How many of US are on autopilot Mon-Fri 9-5 and then when we do finally switch off we are too exhausted to do or think about anything else?

Starting an online business is a fantasic way to build a real business in your spare time.  Yes it takes effort in evenings or on weekends but the rewards are there for the taking.  The ultimate freedom is being able to switch off from autopilot and be yourself…be creative and take control.  I’m not saying its easy and no work is involved but treat it like a real business and you will reap the rewards…time freedom, life on YOUR terms.

The SELL Formula

When I was growing up, my father had a business in the dairy industry.  He had a number of milkrounds delivering fresh milk daily to homes in the area.  Unfortunately, milkmen are a dying breed here in the UK and a great tradition has been lost mainly to the supermarkets and change in lifestyle of consumers.

I was thinking the other day though about an industry training video that was released that I remember watching and it stuck with me to this day.  It was called ‘The SELL Forumula’  and was based around the acronym SELL standing for:

  • S ee your customers regularly
  • E ncourage friendly customer relations
  • L et you customers SEE your products
  • L isten to what your customers say

This is as relavant now as it was then and applicable to all business industries including internet marketing.

So many times I hear people looking to make fast money and how they can milk their list for all its worth.  Internet Marketing like any other business should be about customer relations - building and maintaining them.  This way, your profits will be far higher and long standing than any ‘quick buck’ attempts.

Comments are always welcome
